actually there are many answers for it....
as for me, i think at the 1st place when both person wan to b pet bro n sis....is bcuz both of them feel the bro or sis love there....that way i think the chance of falling in love wif your pet bro or sis will be very low...
example of me n my mui(sasa) or my kache(kit), i can tell the chances of me falling in love wif 1 of them is super super low...i can say is exactly no chance for me to fall in love wif 1 of them.... HAHA!!!

i think it's VERY possible loh.
i have two very good friends who called themselves pet bro and sis and we believed them. when they coupled it felt sick cos its like incest. thats why i never really liked the 'pet bro n sis' thing. but it depends on your motives, man. some people are genuine, some do it with ulterior motives. but i know which type you are, so no worries =)

I think I shld qualify to comment gua since I have 4 petbros.
I had another 2 when I was 13 but that one was memang a cover to save friendship ie both guys interested and had to settle the problem, etc.
However, current petbros are great. We've survived many years. Min Ser (since I was 15 yrs old), Kenneth (since I was 18/19 yrs old), Yoyo (since I was 18 yrs old) and last but not least Joshy (since I cant even remember la).
I agree with Abel and Sara. Motive is very important and in any form of friendship, a genuine heart is key. I mean this is not like you're close to someone else' bf/ gf so I think the limits are diff la. There is nothing stopping the feelings from changing unless the 2 parties involved choose not to let it happen gua.
It should not be viewed as sick la. I have to admit that the true test is time. The genuineness of the friendship is through time and depth of the friendship. Don't think I would term it as incest gua though it might be awkward to the rest around them initially.
Hmmmm....need to gather my thoughts first.

u know in secondary school days. very often the boy like the girl, but because he knows he can't get the girl (maybe that's part of his strategy) he becomes the girl's pet bro so he has a valid excuse to shower his love and affection on her
